ongoing Saturday Special Train Rides at the Colorado Railroad Museum
Make your Saturday special with a ride in the Goose No. 7 or in a 19th century passenger coach pulled by Locomotive No. 4.  Every Saturday.  Every weekend, weather permitting, with departures every 20 minutes.  10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  Train fare: $4 Adults/Seniors, $2 Children.  Ride with us this Saturday and lose track of time.

through Aug 1 Reflections from the Past....Glimpses to the Future
Delve into a journey through time exploring the progression from early quilt making to latest techniques.  "15 Decades of Quilts" In celebration of the City of Golden’s 150th Anniversary, RMQM will feature quilts from the pioneer days to present day. This exhibit honors traditions of early quilters by showcasing the technique and fabrics of each decade. The progression illustrates various points of influence and changes in quilting thru pictorials, colors and patterns.

"Water Challenge" by the Professional Art Quilt Alliance. This eighth PAQA Challenge explores “WATER”, with a collection of 75 small quilts. The quilts illustrate an amazing array of techniques and exquisite fabrics.

through Aug 2 Charles Parson: Personal Echoes on the Horizon
View the singular poetic vision of Colorado artist, Charles Parson. In Parson's 55th solo exhibition, he will translate his fascination with the western landscape, the horizon, and our personal place within it. See the finished product from sketching on-site in a natural environment to sculptures and works by Parson. If you thought the donkeys at Clear Creek History Park were fun last year, wait until you hear what’s in store for this summer. Sheep, goats, rabbits, cattle, and even more chickens are scheduled to visit.  Ever wonder what it takes to raise a hog or what a cow smells like up close? This is your opportunity to find out from local experts at Jefferson County 4-H.  At least twelve 4-H families will be on-site at Clear Creek History Park to showcase some of the animals they’re raising for the Jefferson County Fair held in August. Animals and their owners will be around from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with presentations at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  Free.  Animal demos will be held near the corral and barn.  For more information visit www.goldenhistorymuseums.org or call 303-278-3557.

July 11 Dinosaur Discovery Day: Bring Your Own Fossil
Explore for dinosaur fossils on the trail and learn about other fossils.  Guides, including experts from the Morrison Natural History Museum, will be stationed along the trail to explain fossils and answer questions. Hike free or take the shuttle bus for $2 per person (5 and under ride free). Several hands-on kids activities include excavating dinosaur bones, sieving for tiny fossils, branding Stegosaurus, and painting a free dinosaur track replica to take home.  Kids, bring a fossil from home for us to identify! Take a real fossil home (free).  10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Free.  Dinosaur Ridge Visitor Center and Trail.

July 11, 12 50th Anniversary Celebration
The Colorado Railroad Museum is commemorating 50 years of heritage with all the pomp and circumstance due this great Iron Horse veteran of Colorado railroad history. Witness the spectacular Train Parade featuring Locomotive No. 346, the three Galloping Geese – No. 2, 6, and 7, Pee Wee No. 3, No. 50, No. 4 and Motorcar No. 10. All the local dignitaries and folks with historical significance will be on hand for this special salute to five decades of achievement. Plus lose track of time with steam-up train rides throughout the weekend with the gentle rock of the rails reminding us of the railroad memories of our lives.  9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Daytime celebration activities are free to museum members; special event admission applies for other guests for daytime activities.  Colorado Railroad Museum, 17155 W. 44th Avenue.

Drop in and learn the art of cooking on a woodstove with our master of the domestic arts, Linda Griffin. Help her cook up a storm in the Pearce Cabin as you learn what went in to putting dinner on the table for a frontier family. July 27 - 31 Kids' Film Camp - Docuwest Film Festival
This expressive summer camp will focus on teaching students the art of filmmaking. Our budding filmmakers will collaborate and create a one- to three-minute short film.
